Death of my dear demons lyrics
01 Genesis
Genesis is not the story of the beginning, but the beginning of the story
02 Darcropolis I
Moral issue, God
03 Ein Mensch gewesen
Op het ogenblik zit ik in een fase waarin het leven zeer snel gaat
(At this moment I am in a fase of my life wherein life seems to pass by very fast)
Wat wordt ons niet allemaal aangeboden, wat kunnen we niet allemaal hebben en bezitten
(Look at all we are exposed to, all we can have, could have, posses)
Goethe heeft eens gezegd: 'Denn ich bin ein Mensch gewesen, und das heisst ein Kämpfer sein'
(Goethe once said: 'Being human means to be a fighter')
God, experience, work, moral issue, desire, knowledge, time, God
05 Mountain
Is this all a dream?
The word is not mountain, the word is not mountain
a cell of space, of comfort, isolation
the word is not mountain, although it says mountain
06 Compassion
At first God made the heaven and the earth
and the earth was waste, and without form
and it was dark upon the face of the deep
and the spirit of God moved upon the face of
the waters and God said: let there be light
We are all hostage of our own thinking
08 Malevolance I
Desire
knowledge
truth
09 Isolation
perception
we are all hostage of our own thinking
time
God
truth
10 Malevolance II
Death
demons
11 Hermeneutic circle
What we are gonna discuss is Michel Foucault
Now what is a hermeneutic circle?
Heidegger says there is a hermeneutic situation
so what you see you projected
so you see things: punishment, ethics, right, right wrong
those words they are neutral, but you project them
they are in your brains and you are not able anymore to
have a critical distance to what you do
so you are not able to see the hermeneutic situation you're in
Every time has its own approach to people who are mad, or ill, people that are homosexual
You know that mad people have a certain truth in them
You categorize all the time
the individual, classification
Look at newspapers for example, look at Harvard university academic books
and what you read there isn't truth, it's a selection of things happening in the world,
and this selection is presented as that what you should know
12 The black storm
now what is a hermeneutic circle
the word is not mountain
powerstructures that surpress individual life with categories
to be the passenger myself or to give the tree a name
to touch it with my eyes
now what is a hermeneutic circle
13 Death
Death of my dear demons
my friends and challengers
pawns of mind games
darkening my inner light
As I gaze into the shady forest of my soul
I speak the words of the heavens
goodby my wonderful hellions
as I welcome the death of my dear demons
14 Transcending reality
A cell of space, of comfort, isolation
Transcending reality
Perception
experience
time
God, God, God
subjectivity
experience
perception
21 A mystery
the word is not mountain
although it says mountain
it's not me talking to you
but the clouds that drop words
(we are all hostage of our own thinking)
a mystery is just a mystery
when the tree bears it's leaves
or a passenger passes by
for a short moment I know this is true
but as soon as I speak all seems gone
and I'm left with words that tell me
it's impossible to be the passenger myself
to give the tree a name
to touch it with my eyes
Genesis is not the story of the beginning, but the beginning of the story
